The Cabinet with Candies.
The author of this story is Katerina Lazirko. This is the first book in a series of fairy tales about animals. We are planning three more books with the publisher *Chas Masterov*. Each book will be dedicated to one animal: a giraffe, a penguin, and a kangaroo.
The publisher suggested doing a test task to select the illustrator. I won this contest, although I doubted whether I should participate. After all, I had many projects already in progress.
I illustrated the book in one month. That’s a very short time for illustrating a book, but the work felt easy and fun for me.
The publisher trusts me. This is our second book together with this publishing house.
First, I prepared the book’s presentation: characters, color palette, and storyboard.
The book was illustrated on an iPad using the Procreate app.
I saved several time-lapses to present the work.
I always draw sketches on paper first, then photograph them and finalize them on the iPad. I enjoy making sketches on large sheets of paper with a two-tone red-and-blue pencil.
I really enjoyed working on this book. I will be illustrating the next books in this series next year.
